Making research front timelines
1. The timelines and almost all the crossmaps generated by DIVA are almost all based upon the research fronts found by bibliographic coupling. As such the bibliographic coupling clusters are kept in a special area of the DIVA project structure. After bibliographic coupling clustering it is necessary to move part of the coupling structure into this area.
2. On the TFGUI window, select matrix > Bib to DIVA. This will move the necessary data into the structure which holds the research front timelines.
3. The program will ask for the name of the similary matrix to store. Select OK to take the default name of similarity. This matrix is used to visualize similarity links among the papers. The name will show in the TFGUI connections drop down box list.
4. The program will ask for the name of a map. Select OK to take the default name of map. The map variable contains either 1) a list of x, y coordinates for each paper on a two dimensional map, generated by SOM mapping, or 2) it contains paper clustering information that is used to generate the timeline.
5. The program will show a wait bar Building adjacency matrix and then ask for the name of another similarity matrix to store. Select OK to take the default name of directed. This matrix contains a cite to cited table for the papers in the map, and is used to visualize citations among papers on the map.
6. To display the timeline, select map in the TFGUI map list, then select DOTMAP. The map will appear in a separate window.
